The epoch of oblivion - years after the revolution
Dmitry Konstantinovich died after the Revolution and this was the beginning of the destruction of his estate. First labour school settlement was placed in the Palace, later it was given to the sanatorium of neurotics and then military courses were held in the estate before the beginning of the World War II. All works of art were got out from the Palace. During the operations on the Leningradsky battlefront the Konstantinovsky ensemble was damaged a lot. The interior constructions of the Palace and floors were parched and destroyed, bullets and shells had mutilated the facades. Hundreds of trees and decorative bushes were annihilated.

Conception of the restoration works during the post-war years was oriented to the period of Luidzhi Ruska. The exterior of the Palace seemed to be in a safe condition but the interiors were completely destroyed. After closing the Arctic College that was placed in the Palace the 10-years period of searching for investors and funds has started. The building was in an emergency situation.
